Audition Information

The Taipei Music Academy and Festival (TMAF) is an international and educational music festival held annually in Taipei, Taiwan. In TMAF 2026, we are honored to have Maestro Hans Graf leading the TMAF Orchestra in concert tour, alongside concertmasters and section principals from prestigious ensembles such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra (USA), Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. The esteemed faculty also includes professors from Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard School, Seoul National University, University of Geneva and Kunst-Universität Graz.

The concert program includes Richard Wagner: The Flying Dutchman Overture, Claude Debussy: La Mer, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov: Symphonic Suite, Op. 35, Scheherazade

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

A completed application form, audition video recordings uploaded via Acceptd, and the application fee must be received by February 10, 2026*.

We will not hold live auditions, nor receive materials by postal mail. Please submit your recorded video audition materials online.

VIDEO RECORDING GUIDELINES

  • We accept audition repertoire in single or multiple uploads. Any indication of editing will result in the disqualification of the applicant.
  • Live concert video recordings from within the past 12 months can be used in the solo repertoire category.
  • We strongly recommend you view your recording all the way through before submitting.

Piano accompaniment is recommended for concertos but not required.

Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass 

Winds: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone / Bass Trombone

AGE LIMIT

16 – 28 as of August 1, 2026. 

*Applicants under 18 years old are required to submit an agreement letter from their parents or legal guardians. (download parental / guardian consent form here)

APPLICATION FEES

  • Application Fee: US$100

*This usage fee for submitting an application through Acceptd is payable by credit card  only and is non-refundable.

 

RESULTS

Audition results will be announced by April 2026.

 

NOTES

Applicants who have already participated three or more times are encouraged to apply again, but should understand that it may be necessary to give preferential consideration to new applicants.

CURRICULUM

  • Individualized Instruction: Benefit from 3 personalized lessons, designed to elevate your technique and artistry under the guidance of exceptional faculty.
  • Orchestral Excellence: Experience 12 hours of intensive rehearsals and perform in three concerts alongside all-star faculty, held in world-renowned concert halls.
  • Chamber Music Immersion: Engage in 10+ hours of chamber music coaching/rehearsal alongside all star faculty members, culminating in a prestigious performance at the National Concert Recital Hall, and boost resume status.
  • Mastery Beyond the Stage: Participate in masterclasses, studio classes, and mock auditions to refine your performance skills and build confidence for high-pressure scenarios.
  • Inspiring Discussions: Join forums and personal discussions designed to deepen your understanding of music and foster meaningful connections with faculty and peers.

 

TUITION

  • Tuition: US$2,000
  • Campus lodging and food: US$500

Total: US$2,500

 

SCHOLARSHIP

  • TMAF offers numerous merit-based and need-based scholarships.
  • Grants for travel and lodging are available.
  • All applicants are considered for merit-based scholarships.
  • After the acceptance to TMAF is offered, one could apply for the need-based
    scholarships if it is needed.

 

LODGING AND FOOD

  • Tuition does not include campus lodging and food cost.
  • Dormitory accommodation (Double Room) is available on TNUA campus. Should you request a single room, you are responsible for the extra charge.
  • Campus lodging is not a requirement. However, we strongly recommend staying on  campus to experience the various activities offered by TMAF.
  • The campus lodging and food fee includes daily breakfast and lunch. Meals on concert days and during tour performances will be provided by TMAF.

 

TRAVEL

TMAF will provide transportation and lodging during the concert tour.
