TMAF CEO Che-Yen Chen Steps Down After Successful Tenure, Transitions to Senior Advisory Role; COO Shih-Kai Lin Appointed as New CEO

2025-11-24

Following a highly successful edition of the Taipei Music Academy and Festival (TMAF), Chief Executive Officer Che-Yen (Brian) Chen has decided to step down from the role. Chen notes: “In the summer of 2023, I was entrusted with the role of CEO at TMAF during a period of significant transition. Despite the high demands of my performing and teaching career, I embraced this challenge, driven by my passion for promoting Taiwan’s cultural strengths through music and education, as well as my ability to assemble a talented team.”

Under Chen’s leadership, TMAF appointed key personnel, including an artistic director, a chief operating officer, and a general manager. The organization achieved a record-high number of student applications and a sold-out finale concert at Taiwan’s National Concert Hall in 2025.

Chen adds: “As TMAF continues its stable upward trajectory with this capable team in place, my commitments with the Ehnes Quartet intensify, particularly with an upcoming Beethoven quartet cycle tour to mark the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s passing in 2027. Recognizing that now is the right time to transition leadership, I will continue to serve TMAF as Senior Advisor of the organization’s advisory board, remaining committed to my mission of bringing Taiwan’s cultural richness to the world in this new capacity.”

Artistic Director David Chan says that “TMAF is indebted to Brian for his steadfast leadership at a crucial juncture in our organization’s history. Thanks to his efforts, we are now positioned to thrive and grow well into the future, and I’m delighted that he will remain closely involved with the organization.”

With Chen stepping aside into his new advisory capacity, Chief Operating Officer Shih-Kai Lin will take over CEO duties, continuing TMAF’s mission of bringing the world-class music performance and education to Taiwan.
