Option One: Chamber Music and Orchestra
Duration: August 2 – August 18, 2019

August 2Registration on TNUA campus.
August 3Chamber Music rehearsals starts
August 4-9Daily coaching sessions, master classes, mock auditions, audition tutorials and other instructions.
August 10Participants present their work in the beautiful TNUA concert hall.
August 11-15Orchestra rehearsals with Maestro Jahja Ling
August 16, 17, 18Orchestra tours three major cities in Taiwan: Kaohsiung Weiwuying; National Taichung Theater and Taipei TNUA Concert Hall.

Option Two: Formosa Quartet Seminar and Orchestra

Duration: July 30 – August 18, 2019

 

A select group of 32 players forming 8 string quartets will participate in this intensive quartet survey seminar under the direction of the Formosa Quartet. Each group will receive coaching in addition to other study opportunities as in Option One. Pre-formed quartets are welcome to apply. Specific repertoire request will be considered. The Formosa Quartet will be happy to put each group together and assign repertoire.

All students can request lessons from the faculty subject to the faculty’s schedule and discretion.

 

For violinists interested in learning about how to land a job in a top orchestra, David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra will offer mock audition, tutorial on orchestral excerpts and on how to cope with the pressure of a live audition.

 

All participants will have free access to all the public events at TMAF including the faculty concerts on campus and at the National Concert Hall.

Lodging:

Dormitories at the TNUA will be available. Lodging not included in tuition. Taipei residents can commute from home but we recommend staying on campus to truly get the feel for the various activities offered by TaipeiMAF.

 

Food: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Breakfast, lunch, dinner during concert nights and all meals during concert tour are included. Nearby just down the hill is one of the most popular night market if anyone craves a snack.
