TMAF Alumni Minami Yoshida Won 2nd Prize and Best Performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto at the 13th International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition

International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition

Taipei Music Academy & Festival alumni Minami Yoshida has been awarded 2nd Prize and the Prize for the Best Performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto at the prestigious Jean Sibelius International Violin Competition.

Widely recognized as one of Japan’s most promising young violinists, Minami Yoshida graduated from the Toho Gakuen Music High School and went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the New England Conservatory. She also holds Artist Diplomas from the Toho Gakuen School of Music and the Tokyo College of Music, where she studied with Koichiro Harada and Kyoko Takezawa. She is currently enrolled in the Professional Studies Program at the Kronberg Academy under the mentorship of Mihaela Martin.

Minami has previously received numerous accolades, including recognition at the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition in Hannover (2021), a prize at the Jean Sibelius International Violin Competition (2015), 3rd Prize at the Concours musical international de Montréal (2016), and 3rd Prize at the 11th International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (2022).

She currently performs on the 1716 “Booth” Antonio Stradivarius, generously loaned to her by the Nippon Music Foundation. Starting in Fall 2025, she will begin her trial appointment as a First Violinist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
